Krishnamurti Paddhati (KP) is a precise system built by Prof. K. S. Krishnamurti. It divides each of the 27 nakshatras into 249 unequal sub-divisions, so every degree of the zodiac has a sign lord, star lord and sub lord. The sub lord decides whether a matter fructifies — which is why KP gives a clear yes or no instead of a vague description.
Prashna (horary) is a chart cast for the moment a sincere question is asked — no birth details needed. You name a number between 1 and 249; that number fixes the ascendant sub-lord of the question. The chart then belongs to the question itself, so the answer applies to that concern at that moment.
The four checks KP uses before answering: (1) the sub lord of the significant cusp must not be in the star of a planet denying the matter; (2) the sub lord must signify the relevant houses; (3) the ruling planets at the time of the question must agree; (4) the running dasha–bhukti–antara–sookshma must be run by those same significators, which fixes the timing.
