Krishnamurti Paddhati, commonly shortened to KP, is a twentieth-century system of Indian astrology developed by Prof. K. S. Krishnamurti. The framework
From stars to significators
Nakshatra Lords
The zodiac is divided into 27 nakshatras. The planet ruling the nakshatra in which a planet or cusp falls is its star lord. In KP, that star lord's house connections are important to what the planet signifies.
Sub-Lords
Every nakshatra is split into nine unequal parts following Vimshottari dasha proportions. The ruler of the occupied part is the sub-lord, used to refine the judgement of whether a particular house matter is supported or denied.
Sub-Sub Lords
A sub can be divided again by the same proportional sequence. Ask Kp uses the sub-sub lord only as a tie-break when a cuspal sub-lord supports and denies a matter equally; it does not replace the sub-lord.
Significators
Significators are planets connected with a house through occupation, ownership, their star lord, and—in the case of Rahu and Ketu—their accepted planetary agency. They provide a structured map between planets and the matter judged.
The Four-Step Theory
Ask Kp applies four explicit checks to each question. This is how this service organises its analysis; it is not presented here as a title coined by Prof. Krishnamurti.

Ruling Planets
In Ask Kp, the ruling set includes the day lord and the sign, star and sub-lords connected with the ascendant and Moon at the question's location. They corroborate and help time a judgement; they do not overturn a dasha period by themselves.
Question and timing
KP Horary / Prashna
Prashna is astrology centred on one clearly stated question. A chart is cast for the moment and place of the question rather than from birth details. The subject determines which houses are relevant; if the question is unclear, Ask Kp asks for clarification instead of guessing.
Timing in KP
Timing is examined through the Vimshottari dasha–bhukti–antara–sookshma sequence, the event's significators, ruling planets and continuous transit checks. The result is an estimated date or window, not a promise that an event must occur.
The 1–249 number system
The questioner chooses a number from 1 to 249. It corresponds to one of the zodiac's 249 sub-lord divisions and fixes the Prashna ascendant within that division. Ask Kp consistently uses the segment midpoint to avoid an ambiguous boundary.
